I'd stopped reading much, if any Merlin fanfiction even before the show ended, not least because of my "Where is the Gwen of it?" problem. Nuremberg is only 60 kilometres away from my hometown, so while I was there often, I never took pictures. (The curse of being blase about one's neighbourhood.) However, yesterday I was armed with my camera, and it was a very beautiful autumn day.

One drawback of this year's book fair: Roland Emmerich saw it fit to premiere his Oxfordian schlock "Anonymous" here, and to rant about the still lasting evil "conspiracy of silence" that ensures the poor Earl of Oxford still isn't celebrated while the yokel from Stratford is. We arrived in Monterey in the evening, and since Yosemite had been quite exhausting in a good way - Das reckoned we'd done about 16 kilometres worth of hiking - all we were able to do that night was hitting the sheets. We were a bit flexible in our schedule regarding Yosemite Park - two days if the weather was nice, one if it rained and if the forecast was bad as well. (Anything else was impossible because my conference starts tomorrow.) As you could see in the first Yellowstone post, we had spectacular weather so far. This and the natural marvels around us more than made up for the lack of wifi or indeed functioning cell phones in most of the park. But I wouldn't want to get lost there.:)
